From the Author
First of all I would like to say I started writing this book because of some of my own experiences that I had in my life as a teenager- not having any sense of directions or ambitions other than getting high off drugs, hanging out with fellas, my father was in the picture untill I was around the age 12 before him and my mother seperated, therefore I follow behind my brother and indulge in what was happening in the street life in my community, at the time there wasn't any worries of responsibilities, the importance of being responsible wasn't a concern- Moms took care of that, but once I became 18 years old whether I was mature or not to be responsible to take care of my self I was consider an adult without any concept of living on my own and paying bills as many of my peers, but for me and some of my associates we went down the wrong path committed crimes inresults I was convicted, but through my second conviction I learned- I learnt the hard way, but I learned, so this story pretty much echoes my life and the life that was around me growing up in the 70s and 80s, I believe the younger generations can learn from my story- they won't have to learn the hard way like me, also my story can shed some light on the older generation. The problem between the older generation and younger generation is a communication gap, the younger generation is suppose to respect and listen to the older generation, the older generation suppose to part wisdom, but if your doing drugs, and down and out kids don't want to hear what you have to say also kids like to hear talk in their terminology, even if the elder parting good wisdom, but if his talk isn't worded in a way kids want to hear it they will reject whats being said altogether, so my intention is to write a story the older and younger generation in the inner cities and suburbs can relate to, today this story doesn't only apply to the ghettoes and projects but also the suburbs amongst Caucasions kids because many of them are rapping, expermenting with drugs and classifying themselves as players and Pimps. I believe that this story has a good message and solution though you may not agree with it.
